Emotional Mirrors of Nebulae is a custom software-driven, living artwork that critiques how gendered inequities manifest in global systems, particularly those impacting mental health, digital access, and socio-economic well-being. By blending organic and digital forms, the piece mirrors the pervasive influence of AI and social media on identity, femininity, and collective resilience. Its generative nature ensures no two iterations are identical, offering a continuously evolving exploration of human fragility and systemic disparity.
Reimagining global systems of care and inequality as a dynamic, immersive experience, this work transforms data from nine global sources, including the UN, WHO, and other reports spanning 2019–2023, into a vibrant digital cosmos. Stars and nebulae map the often-invisible metrics shaping women’s well-being in the digital age, merging data with artistic expression to evoke both the beauty and precarity of interconnected systems.
Each star represents a country, its size shaped by the balance—or imbalance—between healthcare resources and mental health challenges. The stars pulse rhythmically, echoing societal stress through collective anxiety and suicide rates. Their layered gradients—fused from happiness, digital connectivity, and mental health disparities—create a poetic tension between resilience and inequity.
Ethereal nebulae, rendered as overlapping regional clusters, represent systemic forces that fragment and unite communities. Their shifting, translucent layers—driven by metrics such as happiness, depression, and healthcare access—evoke a fragile yet interconnected world, where shared struggles and regional disparities collide.
The work invites the viewer to step into this data-driven galaxy and reflect on the invisible economies of care and inequity that shape our lives. As stars pulse and nebulae shift, a deeper critique emerges: How do systemic structures define who has access to care, and whose struggles remain unseen? By rendering global data into an emotive, living experience, Emotional Mirrors of Nebulae provokes us to question the cost of a digitally connected yet inequitable world.
